This parish worships with a sense of community and love for one another.
We worship at two services on Sunday mornings. The liturgy at 8:00 a.m. is the Book of Common Prayer (BCP) Communion Service. During COVID the liturgy has been Morning Prayer. At the 10:00 a.m. service the liturgy is primarily based on the Book of Alternative Services (BAS) Eucharistic service. Traditionally BCP has been used once a month at the 10 a.m. During COVID the service has been primarily a Liturgy of the Word. Broad use of alternative Eucharistic Prayers have been used. Additional prayers and rites have been incorporated from a variety of sources in order to enhance and enrich our worship. Attention to world-wide issues, social concerns or celebrations may be found throughout our liturgies. Additional services are held during the liturgical year, such as Ash Wednesday and Holy Week.
Lay people play an active role in the weekly services. We participate in the readings, leading Psalms, the writing and offering the Prayers of the People, and administering communion. Additional Eucharistic liturgies are shared with Seniors’ residences. Inter-faith services are held throughout the year.
The parish and rector of St John’s have the permission of the Bishop to perform same-sex marriages.
