Spiritual development takes place in a variety of ways. One way is found in the Bible Studies that take place. The parish of St. John’s incorporates learning about topical social issues through sermons, given both by the Rector and guest speakers. Opportunity for deeper exploration is provided at gatherings post regular service times or during the week. Examples of this learning include a speaker who came to preach about Black History in Nova Scotia, and last year “Mapping the Ground We Stand On” was held to help us reflect upon the place of First Nations in Canada and the effect colonisation had in eliminating many of these nations on the land.
This parish is open to going deeper in understanding the world in which we live our faith.
